"'Friends of Frances' is a nonprofit advocacy organization intended to support the DeWitt Library. Our volunteer members advocate, educate, and raise funds on behalf of the Library, its patrons, and the community: in particular, "Friends raise funds to be used by the Library for activities not ordinarily covered under the Library's operating budget since ongoing Library operations are paid for by city and county dollars."

Friends of Frances help meet current needs through assistance with special events, fund-raising activities, membership dues and gifts to the Library. They also assist with the volunteer program, special reading programs and other activities for children."

Friends Book Sale

Donated books are collected year-round at the library in preparation for the bi-annual Friends Book Sale. If you are considering a donation, please note the following guidelines:

    • Highly desired items include gently used children's books, DVDs, and CDs.
    • All book donations should be in easily readable condition, with minimal marking of the pages and all pages (plus the cover) fully intact. Books may be for adults, teens, or children, but it is asked that all copies be either fiction or popular nonfiction, and preferably published within the last 10 years.
    • DVD and CD donations need to be in good playable condition. Original covers strongly preferred.
    • The following items WILL NO LONGER BE ACCEPTED: user manuals, magazines, textbooks, encyclopedias, Reader's Digest Condensed Books, VHS tapes.
